Graduate Student Organization
General Information
Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year! We are excited to start our second year as a revived organization and have several plans for the upcoming semester. Two of our main goals include continuing to work on establishing fellowships and scholarships as well as increasing graduate assistant benefits. In addition to these two issues we have many ideas on how the graduate student experience can be improved as well as how graduate students can contribute to the university. We have students involved in transportation and sustainability issues, graduate student housing options, and health care coverage.
If your department does not already have a voting representative (you can check the most current roster here) and you are interested in becoming the representative please contact the GSO for more information. However, even if your department already has a representative ALL graduate students are encouraged to attend meetings and voice their opinions and concerns. The more input we have from individuals the better decisions we can make as an organization.
This semester, we are also planning to have guest speakers on topics such as
career development, stress management, and graduate student success. We would
like to encourage students to participate in social events the GSO will be
hosting. Fall semester we will have two social events, check back after the
first meeting to finds dates and locations (click on Upcoming Events and Campus Involvement).
